Living in Boston – Since Boston is a college town and full of overseas students, the apartment renting is pretty expensive and the rent is even rising every year. Besides tuition, rent is usually the biggest item on international students’ budget. Here are some websites that help new international students (including me) save money on apartment living and furniture shopping in Boston.
Living in Boston – Ways to Save Money on Furniture
Unfurnished rentals are pretty common in Boston. There are not many choices if you are looking for a furnished apartment. So, for international students, the first thing you need to do after you signed the rental lease is to buy furniture. However, buying brand new furniture sets means not only a lot of assembling but also a large amount of money. To spend money wisely, purchasing used furniture from other international students who are about to graduate and leave is a better choice. Below some are useful websites and Chinese / Taiwanese Facebook community pages to shop used furniture and find housing information. I purchased all of my furniture from Boston Used Market and as you can see from pictures in this post, they are all in good condition.
